I’m a new listener and I enjoy your show.
Concerning do it yourself mic preamps, you should take a look at Hamptone. I’ve built the HVTP2 tube mic preamp and I am absolutely thrilled. It sounds great on everything I’ve tried with it and makes a killer DI for bass.
I can also vouch for the Seventh Circle pres. I’ve got N72, C84, and A12 modules and love ’em all.
I think John forgot to mention when you create a phaser with an EQ, you need to duplicate the track, flip the phase to cancel each other out and then make the EQ adjustments as he described. I’m with you Ryan. Just use a phaser plug in as it’s much easier and takes a LOT less time.
