In this episode Jon talks more about getting prepared to mix and Ryan briefly touches on music theory and why that may be a good thing to know in the studio.

Nice show guys…
Ryan turned me on to this site awhile back and I’m just now getting into listening regularly.
I have no excuse…except my full time job, wife + 1.8 kids, and a regularly gigging rock band hahah.
I like what you guys are doing and will definitely skip around the episodes and find some good info.
And Ryan…about being a good musician…I know theory and can’t sight read but I SUCK!!! What’s that do for ya hypothesis?
David Baldwin
guitarist of Lead Pipe Logic
If you suck on guitar, I am at the playing level of an orangutan. In this case, my hypothesis would have to be self esteem. On the flip side, those that feel they rule, do not strive to get better. Something to think about.
Ryan,
Thanks for hurting my head with all that theory crap when I’m recovering from stab wounds(lol). Talk to you next week buddy.
A good music theory resource is the Raven Spiral Guide. Here’s but one source for it:
